No way, man, I bought those steaks special. Grass-fed organic beef, the best they had.

[So of course they're having dinner. And it's an awesome dinner, because of the food and wine, and because of the company. Then they move upstairs, and, well - Nick's pretty sure Monroe won't fault him for finding that a hell of a lot better than dinner.

Nick has the day off the next day, so - he spends it all with Monroe. For a number of reasons, the main one being that he wants to. But he's also both stalling on what he has to say, and trying to put enough distance between that and the first time they slept together that they won't be immediately associated.

It's night time again, and they've finished leftovers and are sitting together on the couch, when Nick brings it up again.]

Remember when I said I had something work related to run by you? Well, it's network related, too.

...that's not a promising reaction. Come on, man, you know about the sniffer dogs and the water contamination drug cover and how everyone on the network thinks they can't trust the police. And they're right, at least when it comes to the sheriff and Detective Sherman. The only way to stop them is to figure out what they're up to, and the only way to do that... is for them to trust me enough to tell me.

You know it's really hard to stay pissed at you. Yuji can't stand it. If you're doing this there's going to be some conditions. The first is you always let me know when you're going off alone with these guys. And where.

No, Monroe wouldn't be able to convince Nick that this wasn't the right thing to do. He'd be able to convince Nick not to do it, just by asking him, but Nick would still think it was the right thing.]

Let's hope that's still true for him, because I have to tell him next.

[He lets out his own sigh, leaning in to rest his forehead against Monroe's. Nick can do conditions. He likes conditions, actually, conditions means Monroe's in on this with him.]
